Pre-occupied by exams.

08 November 2009

I just cleaned my toilet. It's squeaky clean now. I'm so happy.
I had a wonderful breakfast. I can feel the milk is still in my stomach. I have slight intolerance to milk. The nasi lemak from Sin Hoe marketplace is awesome. Everybody should try it. It's just RM1 per packet.

I have an exam tomorrow at 715am. I got 2 pending cases to submit.

------------------------------------------------------
My brother gave me his iPod Touch 2G 8GB.
He got it for free (complementary to his MacBook Pro purchase in Singapore).

So i went to buy a silicon casing for my new iPod Touch for RM70 in Mahkota Parade. It was just ok. Not the best casing out there.

I installed a few good medical programs.
Skyscape (free) - has a well updated clinical database, drug info, and a medical calculator.
Eponym (free) - contains eponyms with brief description we will encounter in our medical studies.
Epocrates (paid) - i got a promotional code off the internet. The program should cost RM500+ per year but i got it for free. It has in-built pill identifier, clinical info and medical calculator..
Evernote (free) - this is one of the most useful program for medical students. I am able to clip off useful details i encounter on my PC and sync the information with my iPod so that it is accessible from my device.

I bring my iPod Touch to my postings. Not for it's mp3 player function but more to it's PDA-like function. Hehe...

------------------------------------------------------

I bought a compact digital camera off LowYat.net forum 2 months ago.
It is Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR. It is a great masterpiece. I'm eager to get a camera because i found out that camera is not only for it's function (i.e. taking pictures) but it is a great tool to socialise with people. Camera is a good excuse to approach people and talk to them. :D

It was a bit late for me to find this out. During a recent conference i attended, i felt that i missed out a lot of good stuff because i don't have a camera. It sucks. Haha...

Now that a friend of mine bought a DSLR Nikon D90, i feel that i should get one like those in the future...XD

I'm a gadget person.

Resurrection of my blog

07 September 2009

There's a lot running in my mind now. I like the new template for my blog, at least it's not black anymore. My Sony laptop is progressively slowing down day by day. Even the screen is already flashing at the bottom just recently.

It's not any of my concern though. I'm going to enjoy my holidays to the fullest!

My brother is getting a MacBook Pro!

New Laptop

11 May 2009

Tadah, behold. This is my new laptop. It's Sony VAIO and it's pink!

The specifications are not bad either. I've upgraded to RAM to 3GB for RM75 in addition.

I bought the keypad protector for another extra RM50. Well, it's worth the price since it's hard to clean the keyboard once it's dusty if there is no cover.

It has multi-coloured LED light display when you touch the lid or when u play music.

Bah, i'm too lazy to elaborate on anything. I have endposting test tomorrow.

Feaces in Salmonella

04 May 2009

Salmonella typhi

Feces given out in enteric fever is described as 'pea-soup' diarrhea. I bet that the person that names it was not fond of the soup either. Well, it is also known as green diarrhea.
It is green in colour because the liver constantly secretes bile into the small intestine or it is stored in the gallbladder.

Bile is responsible for giving stools their characteristic brown color.

As bile makes its way through the intestines, it progressively changes color from green to yellow to brown, due to the action of bacteria in the large intestine on the bile salts.

Green stool often indicates that food has passed through the intestines faster than normal (called decreased bowel transit time), before it could be changed from green to brown.

It could be due to many other causes too. link

Here is the examples of the green feces. I bet you will not forget this ever in your life. Thank me!

Green pea soup anyone?? :)

Pandemic Alert: Phase 4

In nature, influenza viruses circulate continuously among animals, especially birds. Even though such viruses might theoretically develop into pandemic viruses, in Phase 1 no viruses circulating among animals have been reported to cause infections in humans.

In Phase 2 an animal influenza virus circulating among domesticated or wild animals is known to have caused infection in humans, and is therefore considered a potential pandemic threat.

In Phase 3, an animal or human-animal influenza reassortant virus has caused sporadic cases or small clusters of disease in people, but has not resulted in human-to-human transmission sufficient to sustain community-level outbreaks. Limited human-to-human transmission may occur under some circumstances, for example, when there is close contact between an infected person and an unprotected caregiver. However, limited transmission under such restricted circumstances does not indicate that the virus has gained the level of transmissibility among humans necessary to cause a pandemic.

Phase 4 is characterized by verified human-to-human transmission of an animal or human-animal influenza reassortant virus able to cause “community-level outbreaks.” The ability to cause sustained disease outbreaks in a community marks a significant upwards shift in the risk for a pandemic. Any country that suspects or has verified such an event should urgently consult with WHO so that the situation can be jointly assessed and a decision made by the affected country if implementation of a rapid pandemic containment operation is warranted. Phase 4 indicates a significant increase in risk of a pandemic but does not necessarily mean that a pandemic is a forgone conclusion.

Phase 5 is characterized by human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one WHO region. While most countries will not be affected at this stage, the declaration of Phase 5 is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short.

Phase 6, the pandemic phase, is characterized by community level outbreaks in at least one other country in a different WHO region in addition to the criteria defined in Phase 5. Designation of this phase will indicate that a global pandemic is under way.

During the post-peak period, pandemic disease levels in most countries with adequate surveillance will have dropped below peak observed levels. The post-peak period signifies that pandemic activity appears to be decreasing; however, it is uncertain if additional waves will occur and countries will need to be prepared for a second wave.

Previous pandemics have been characterized by waves of activity spread over months. Once the level of disease activity drops, a critical communications task will be to balance this information with the possibility of another wave. Pandemic waves can be separated by months and an immediate “at-ease” signal may be premature.

In the post-pandemic period, influenza disease activity will have returned to levels normally seen for seasonal influenza. It is expected that the pandemic virus will behave as a seasonal influenza A virus. At this stage, it is important to maintain surveillance and update pandemic preparedness and response plans accordingly. An intensive phase of recovery and evaluation may be required.

Love Quote for Darling

15 April 2009

When I say,

"I love you,"

it's not because I want you
or because I can't have you.

It has nothing to do with me.

I love what you are,
what you do,
how you try.

I've seen your kindness and your strength.

I've seen the best and the worst of you.

And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are...

You're a hell of a woman.

I love you, darling ---<@

Foot Food

Its been a long time since it take the initiative to write a post. The reason is that my keyboard was broken long ago, and i have to depend on the On-Screen Keyboard to type.

For your information, the entire post is written, letters by letters on the virtual keys.

Okay, i want to rant about my foot.
Orthopedic posting in Muar is all about standing, standing and standing. My foot, ankle and knees are getting sore and painful.
"Buy this jelly thing for padding," said Anas when i complaint to him. "It helps a lot."
The next day i went to a pharmacy to get one for myself.

Well, its comfortable to touch. I thought that it felt like one of those silicon breast implant.
"It must be nice to have breast-like sensation over your feet..."

It's not cheap either. I hope this really works.
I'll be having end-posting tomorrow. Good luck to me.

FAQ: How to use emoticons on Blogger?

21 March 2009

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I am one of the many people who wondered why Blogger.com refused to include the emoticons function mad. One of the possible answers is that they want to protect the blogs from being invaded by emo people swt01. It could be that they wanted to protect us from over-'sissy' ladies who has very high tendency to abuse this function swt.

Actually you can do it manually through the method of copy/paste from image hosting sites, but it's too much of a hassle wink01. That's why today, i would like to share with you the knowledge of how to embed this latent function onto your blogger composer, so that abusing the use of emoticons will be just a click away twisted!

To put everything in a simple way, just follow this steps:
  1. Download Firefox web-browser here.
  2. Add Greasemonkey add-on here.
  3. After adding the add-on, restart your browser.
  4. Go to userscript.org, and go to this script here. I made this script by editing a pre-existing one, so that i can customise my own sets of emoticons. If you want to edit your own, then keep reading. Install it.
  5. Eureka! You can use emoticons now!
If you use my customised script, just for your info; the smilies are hosted one imageshack.us (free image-hosting site). It is safe.

For more advanced users or for those who thinks that my choices of emoticons are lame swt, follow these steps by skipping Step 4.
  1. Go to here. Click the SourceCode tab.
  2. Copy and paste the script on a Notepad.
  3. Find your own emoticons, and host it on your prefered imagehosting sites (eg. Photobucket, imageshack...etc)
  4. Replace the links on the script with your own. Complete it and save it.
  5. Go to userscript.org.
  6. Sign up and make a new account.
  7. Click "Manage your scripts" --> "Upload a new script"
  8. Send your version of emoticon script you've saved earlier.
  9. Install it once it is uploaded.
  10. Viola! There you can use it now.
Hope this is useful to you. Please comment. wink
